Currently listening to: Seu Jorge & Ana Carolina: Ao Vivo
If you like the concept of Brazilian music but haven't as yet listened to Seu Jorge, then samba your booty along and start catching up!
I first came across Seu Jorge after watching The Life Aquatic: with Steve Zissou at the cinema. One of the characters, Pele, plays guitar and sings. I thought it sounded beautiful but it wasn't until the credits were rolling and I swore that I heard a 'Ziggy Played Guitar' that I realised that all of the songs he played were covers of David Bowie, acoustic versions sung in Portugese. Wow. Pele was (of course) Seu Jorge, who was already well established a musican as well as an actor (he was one of the main characters in City of God. More wow).
So I've been catching up ever since. I bought the soundtrack as soon as it came out, and have now got my little tubby hands on 'The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions' as well as his last album 'Cru' and a live set he performed for MTV in 2004.

Ana & Jorge: Ao Vivo was released in 2005 and is taken from a live recording. It's great, I can't say more than that. Ana Carolina (who doesn't seem to appear on the internet) has a beautifully deep voice, and while they each sing a couple songs solo, the duets between the two of them are beautiful including a cover of 'The Blower's Daughter'. Very easy to listen to.
Outgoing:
One of my favourite movie exchanges - from The Life Aquatic:
Steve Zissou (shouts): Esteban was eaten!
Klaus Daimler: Is he dead?
Steve Zissou: Esteban was eaten!
