So after I finished watching History of Oil, I started looking a little bit closer at the rest of Robert Newman's work and came across a page that talked about some of his earlier work. And lo and behold, one of his famous characters from the Mary Whitehouse Experience years is Jarvis, "a predatory lothario in a smoking jacket who would cruise the streets of Soho looking for youthful partners to fulfil his lust and making risque double entendres which apparently shocked him ("Now I don't want to come over all Prince Charles... oh God!!!")" (taken from here).It's not very often that your name gets used (especially if it happens to be Jarvis ... oh, wait) so I decided to have a bit of a poke around the web to see what would come up. And the answer is enough.

Real player (all taken from here):
- Jarvis live;
- Jarvis' song;
- and an interesting snippet of Rob Newman talking about where Jarvis came from .
I have to say, if this is all that he could do, it would still be amusing - just a little bit less so. I should at this point probably admit that do have Jarvis' song stuck in my head though ... "that last bit didn't actually rhyme ... but the fact that you expected it to rhyme, and I disappointed you ... turned me on."
